How can I descale the machine? BRU AG

Depending on the hardness of your water, limescale will build up over time. If you do not descale the inside of your machine, this can affect the water flow and therefore the taste of the tea.

If you use the BRU Maker One daily and you use moderately hard water, we recommend that you descale it every two to three months. If you use the BRU Maker One intensively and have hard water, we recommend that you descale it more often. If you see limescale deposits in your water tank or around the white nozzles, it is time to descale the machine.

Which product can be used for descaling?

To descale, use a high-quality commercially available descaler that is suitable for coffee machines. They are easy to find, for example by looking at the detergent dispenser in your dishwasher. B. Google "buy descaler for coffee machine". Descalers are usually available in liquid, powder or tablet form.

How do you descale?

Step 1: Empty your water tank. If you have a water filter installed in the tank, please remove it beforehand.

Step 2: Please first read all safety instructions on your descaler. Fill a container (e.g. a jug or bowl) with approx. 1.2 l / 40 oz of the descaling solution. Follow the instructions on the packaging of your descaler.

Step 3: Pour the descaling liquid into the water tank and make sure it is correctly attached to the machine.

Step 4: Access the water dispenser menu. Set the water temperature “COLD” and the water quantity “infinity”. Place a container with a capacity of up to 1.2 l under the spout. Press START. Wait until all the descaling liquid has run through.

Step 5: Open the machine lid. Check whether the white nozzles on the underside of the lid still have limescale deposits. If this is the case, soak kitchen paper in descaling liquid and place it around the nozzles. Leave it to work for about 15 minutes.

(NOTE: We recommend that you use household gloves for this step, as descaler can irritate the skin; please read the packaging instructions for your descaler).

Then remove the paper towel from the nozzles. Wipe the nozzles with a clean, damp towel.

Step 6. If you feel that there is still too much limescale in the machine, add the descaling liquid that has already run through the machine back into the water tank. Repeat steps 3-6.

Step 7: After 1 to 2 descaling cycles, dispose of the descaling liquid. Remove the water tank from the machine and clean it with water and detergent. Rinse it with clean water. Fill the water tank to the brim with fresh water and put it back in your machine.

Step 8: The machine should still be in the water dispenser menu (if not, re-enter it) with the “COLD” and “infinity” settings set. Press "START" and wait until all the water has run through the machine. Pour the water away!

Step 9: Remove the tea strainer and glass brewing chamber and wash them in the dishwasher or by hand. Then put it back into the BRU Maker One.

Step 10: Your device is now descaled and you can use it as usual.
